NEWAG to modernise passenger cars for PKP Intercity

On July 15, 2016, NEWAg S.A. signed a con­tract with PKP Inter­city for moder­ni­sa­tion of pas­sen­ger cars. Under the con­tract, NEWAG will con­duct the major P 5 over­haul inc­lu­ding moder­ni­sa­tion of 16 Type 111A eco­nomy class pas­sen­ger cars.

Fol­lo­wing moder­ni­sa­tion, the cars will be an open-coach eco­nomy class adap­ted to trans­por­ting skis and bicyc­les. Air-conditioned, modern inte­riors equ­ip­ped with ergo­no­mic cha­irs and ame­ni­ties will ensure pas­sen­gers’ com­fort while tra­vel­ling. Pas­sen­gers will also be able to use wi-fi and elec­tric 203V soc­kets undr each chair to charge their mobile pho­nes and lap­tops. Pas­sen­ger cars will be equ­ip­ped with modern reten­tion tank toilets, modern moni­to­ring and pas­sen­ger infor­ma­tion sys­tem.
The total gross value of the con­tract is PLN 53 096 640.00. The deadline for con­tract imple­men­ta­tion is 31 March 2017.
