From 20 to 23 September 2016, NEWAG S.A. participated in the international transport technology fair InnoTrans 2016 which was held in Berlin. NEWAG is a leading Polish company manufacturing and modernising rolling stock.
Our stand, located in Hall 3.2 and covering approx. 200 m2, proved very popular. This claim is supported by the big number of meetings which took place as well as by the big number of visitors to the stand. During the four days of this year’s event, we had a pleasure to welcome many important guests including Witold Słowik, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Development, Szymon Ogłaza, Board Member of the Opolskie Province with Bartłomiej Horaczuk, Head of Infrastructure and Economy Department and Jadwiga Rajkiewicz and Daniel Paszun representing Marshal’s Office of the Zachodniopomorskie Province.
NEWAG presented two products at InnoTrans 2016. The first was IMPULS 36WEa – an electric multiple unit manufactured for the Opolskie Province. IMPULS 36 WEa trains are the first vehicles fully compliant with ECTS. They feature state-of-the–art drive and braking systems, air-conditioning, modern audio-video passenger information system and a monitoring system. Passengers travelling in comfortable conditions can recharge their electronic devices using 230V electric sockets installed at each of 176 seats and they have a free wi-fi access. The EMUs are adapted for carrying passengers with reduced mobility and for transporting bicycles. They travel at a maximum operational speed of 160 km/h.
In its basic version, the contract signed with the Opolskie Province guarantees a delivery of five EMUs with an option for two additional trains. The net value of the contract with the option is PLN 71,820,000.
The other vehicle presented by NEWAG was DRAGON — a six-axle electric locomotive with an additional diesel engine for shunting operations, which is operated by Freightliner. DRAGON is a powerful, safe, attractively-priced locomotive, fully equipped and economical. DRAGON’s key advantage is its very high tractive force of the value of 374 kN which, in connection with the locomotive weight of 119 t, a modern anti-skid system and an individual drive per each axle, allows it to pull very heavy freight trains. With the axle load below 20t combined with a specially designed suspension, DRAGON is perfectly adapted to difficult operating conditions.
