Today witnessed signing of a contract for the procurement of five modern four-unit IMPULS 31WEa trains. The newly-ordered four-unit trains will be slightly different from the Electric Multiple Units (EMUs) already supplied to Koleje Dolnośląskie, with an altered shape of the train head and the LED headlights. The interior layout and colouring will also be changed at the Ordering Party’s request. The trains will carry up to 460 passengers each and will travel with a speed of up to 160km/h.
The IMPULS 31WEa trains will be compliant with the Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI) which are binding standards in the European Union.
The trains will service the Wrocław – Rawicz route.
The net value of the contract signed today is PLN 78 million and it comprises the second task as set forth in the invitation to tender issued by Koleje Dolnośląskie on August 3, 2013. The contract for the implementation of the first task comprised the supply of six three-unit electric multiple units and was finalised at the end of 2014.
The new four-unit EMUs will be delivered to the Ordering Party in the fourth quarter of 2015. By the end of 2015, Koleje Dolnośląskie will have been operating in total 16 IMPULS trains manufactured by NEWAG S.A.
