NEWAG-manufactured ‘Inspiro’ started carrying passengers of the first metro line in Warsaw

Star­ting from Sun­day, Octo­ber 6, 2013, pas­sen­gers of the War­saw metro can tra­vel on ‘Inspiro’ – modern metro tra­ins manu­fac­tu­red by the con­sor­tium of Sie­mens AG and NEWAG S.A.

The inau­gu­ral ride attrac­ted a lot of inte­rest from the mass media and War­saw resi­dents. Inspiro asto­ni­shed pas­sen­gers.  The train’s open-car design allows users to move fre­ely along the whole, 120-metre long vehicle. The train can carry as many as 1500 pas­sen­gers in rush hours and has 250 seats. It is equ­ip­ped with an automatically-controlled air-conditioning sys­tem, modern pas­sen­ger com­part­ment ligh­ting sys­tem, ramps faci­li­ta­ting boar­ding and de-boarding for the disa­bled, addi­tio­nal pas­sen­ger infor­ma­tion displays and full inte­rior moni­to­ring sys­tem. Inspiro is 30% ligh­ter than tra­ins made of steel, the­re­fore  it uses less elec­tri­city. It is the most cutting-edge under­gro­und rol­ling stock in Europe.
